Spring showers bring social outings!

Although  we are still buried in mountains of snow, (much like the rest of the Island) there are still signs of spring to remind us that soon the sounds of summer will be here.  One of those signs is the Annual New Glasgow Women’s Insititute Coffee with a Flair. For as long as I can remember we have been opening our “summer home”  to house this wonderful event. The NGWI holds this annual fundraiser to raise monies for not only charities such as the QEH & Anderson’s House but also share those funds with families in the area who have come upon hard times. The event is their major fundraiser of the year and local models show off the new fashions for the upcoming season. It’s a  fun event for not only the guests but for the WI too!  Food, Fashion, Fun –  50/50, silent auction and door prizes available too. What better way is there to spend a spring morning. So get your tickets now $15 per person by calling Jacquie Laird 902-964-2641. Event is scheduled for Saturday April 25th from 9:15 to 11am at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers 604 Route 258 New Glasgow, PEI. And don’t worry we’ll get the shovels out if we need to!

Another event that is happening on the same day is the New Glasgow Fire Department Volunteer Appreciation Night. Saturday April 25th from 7:30-9pm at The Central Queens United Church in Hunter River. The event is being organized by a grateful local group of citizens who would like to see our community firefighters receive the thanks and recognition they deserve. It is also being supported by the Hunter River Community Council, Harmony House Theatre, Hunter River Lion’s Club and others.

The purpose of the event is to show appreciation and thanks for the approximately 30 New Glasgow firefighters who volunteer their time to keep our families and friends safe every day. We are also asking the public to submit their stories of thanks, help and heroism involving the fire department.

Those who would like to attend, volunteer to work food prep or would like to donate to help with food costs are asked to contact Melanie at Harmony House Theatre (902) 964-2255 or info@harmonyhousetheatre.com Thank you!
